This report was mailed for Tom McNamara by http://birdnotes.net

Date: April 24, 2007
Location: Mt. Tabor Park, Multnomah County, Oregon

Temperature: 52 degrees fahrenheit
Wind direction: SW
Prevailing wind speed: 1-5 km/h
Precipitation: none

First bird of the day for me was a singing Hammond's flycatcher.
Working my way to the summit I found a Pine Siskin and a Song Sparrow
building nests. I met Iain Tomlinson and we saw two more Hammond's,
some Audubon's and a few Orange-crowneds. Heard a Wilson's. Moving
down the east slope path, we checked the Band-tailed Pigeon
nest....doesn't look good for success there---no brooding bird,
instead 3 feathers on the nest.
Iain had to take off so I continued around the south loop and met
Carl F. and we birded over to the sw corner nursery looking for the
sparrows reported recently. We found a number (8?) of
Golden-crowneds, and my FIP (first in park) Lincoln's. Missed on the
Chipping Sparrow.

On a mammal note: we found 2 raccoons sleeping together on the top of
a sapling big-leaf maple. 3rd time I've seen at least one raccoon
doing this in the last 2 weeks.
