[obol] White-throated Sparrows West--Increase in wintering numbers?

I moved into my house in May 1977. I began feeding birds regularly right
away. The first White-throated Sparrow I saw here came on November 20,
1981. There have been many years without White-throated Sparrows. In the
past several winters, I have had at least one in the yard throughout the
peak of the winter season. A couple of years ago I saw 3 or 4 here at the
same time, but not for the entire season. In one recent year I saw a
White-throated Sparrow off and on; on days when it was not at my feeder, it
was at a feeder about 6 houses away. So, my impression at this one location
is that White-throated Sparrows have gone from infrequent (maybe missed all
season or seen only once or twice) to regular (one or more seen throughout
the winter season), and that regularity has been achieved only within about
the last 5 years.
