Hi Obol-
Just to have closure on our Birdathon yesterday, for which we've already generated 3 postings, we ended up with 115 species for
Benton County. Nothing more really interesting, but plenty of recent arrivals like BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, CASSIN'S VIREO, LAZULI
BUNTI NG, CHIPPING SPARROW, YELLOW WARBLER, and others. At Finley, near Pigeon Butte, we saw a GOLDEN EAGLE and a short time later,
two juvenile BALD EAGLES. Also a MERLIN hunting fast along a hedgerow. Singing going on everywhere, and we felt that AMERICAN
GOLDFINCHES were singing madly at every single stop we made. We also heard a LESSER GOLDFINCH sing a long and complicated song that
included imitations of many other birds. It was a great day to be out and we had tons of fun!
