"I was at Malheur NWR Friday and Sat, camping and birding a bit. I saw a
White-throated sparrow, several bitterns, and at Page Spring a Pine
grosbeak.

On the way home we saw a Demoiselle crane in a field along side the highway
going from Burns Junction to Jordan Valley. Must be an escapee. It had
found perfect crane habitat. Best, hf"

Father Hugh is a Benedictine monk. He wrote a wonderful guidebook to the
natural history of the Mt. Angel seminary hill called "Glad for What He Has
Made," that is available from the abbey store. His book "Essential Monastic
Wisdom" is also worth having.
