[obol] Coos Birds 8/1 & 8/2/2007

N. Spit, Coos Bay, 1700-1800, fog with a bit of
drizzle, 60's, wind-30mph:
There was a heavily molted adult GOLDEN-PLOVER, almost
looked like it was already in non-breeding plumage. It
appeared to be a PACIFIC from what I could tell as far
as primary project, I couldn't get close enough to
count tips of primaries past the tertials though.
Also there was a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER and one juvie
WILSON'S PHALAROPE still around. Other than that
about 30 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS and just a few WESTERN
SANDPIPERS.
At Bandon Marsh on the morning of 8/2, there was
nothing new but about 1/3rd of the 700 or so WESTERN
SANDPIPERS were juvies.
I sure feel privileged to be out there birding with a
wool cap on in August, I suspect there wasn't to many
wool caps being worn in the valley yesterday
afternoon!
