Marilyn Christian and I birded Summer Lake yesterday and saw most of
the same shorebirds Steve Dougill's group saw a couple of days
earlier. The SNOWY PLOVER (5 or 6) were running around in
characteristic fashion, and the WILSON'S PHALAROPES were spinning so
fast sometimes it made me dizzy to watch! We saw LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHER, IBIS, KILLDEER, LEAST SANDPIPER, CANVASBACK, FORSTER'S
TERN, GREAT EGRET, GREAT BLUE HERON, heard a SORA among others. We
didn't take time to ID all the ducks. On the way to the Fremont
Overlook we found the BLUE-GREY GNATCATCHER, MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE,
WESTERN SCRUB JAY. We stopped at the first cattle guard because we
wre running out of time.

Not Found: BLACK-THROATED SPARROW, MARBLED GODWIT. I guess that
means I have to go back again! It's a fabulous place--my first
birding there, but not the last.

Many thanks to Steve Dougill for the info he provided for our trip.

Good birding y'all,
