[obol] Tree Swallow Migrant Date?

It was interesting to read the exchange about the
still singing WILLOW FLYCATCHERS, I am also still
hearing them sing also in young clearcuts down in
Curry Co. Of course they are one of the later
arriving neotrops, so it isn't surprising they are
still singing and nesting I guess.

That brings me to a topic under reported, the late
dates for many neotrop species. I have been working
on a monthly bar graph for Coos County and I noticed
that my past observations indicate that TREE SWALLOWS
pretty much are gone by now, with only the occasional
straggler reported. I have been looking for them the
past few days, and they seem to be absent from the
north spit of Coos Bay where they were common but a
couple weeks ago. Of course I am constantly tweeking
the bar graph so I was wondering if indeed anyone out
there has also noted that TREE SWALLOWS are usually
mostly gone come the beginning of August? They are
one of the earliest species to arrive and as far as I
can tell, one of the earliest to leave. So, if any of
you have large swallow flocks in the neighborhood,
check and see if there are still any Tree Swallows
amongst all the Barns and other species- I am thinking
they sort of silently disappear by now, with only the
occasional stragglers here and there (some staying as
late as December though).

Thanks for any observations,
Tim R
