OBOL, hello!

We were pleased, thrilled, and happy to find four Harlequin Ducks at the
hatchery today. It was just a stroke of luck that as we were standing on the
olde bridge glassing a preening Common Merganser, the Harlequins swam under
us on their way upstream to a little shady peninsula where they disembarked
and stood around on land for a few moments. Since this location has been
producing Harlequin babies for at least 5 years now that we know of, we
suspect that all four birds were juveniles. And though they were all marked
like a female (which is normal for Harlequins that young), one sported a
pronounced spikey tail, so we suspect that at least one of the four is a boy
version.

One American Dipper was busily scouting for food in the same location.
