OBOL:
WARNING: No scientific content, census counts, millimeter measurements, or
application to land management. Just birders enjoying birds.
16 people showed up for the Summer Saturday with Shorebird outing at
Tualatin River NWR this morning. We were there from 8-11 AM under partly
cloudy skies. It was a great morning to be out.
We saw six kinds of ducks, 7 kinds of regular shorebirds, 3-4 kinds of
swallows, many Vaux Swifts. Lazuli Buntings with young were in the bushes
at the beginning of the dike.
Greg saw a Peregrine Falcon spook the whole lot of birds before the rest of
us got there.
Canada Geese which were plentiful last evening were missing when we arrived
at 8 AM, but began to return (with full bellies?) about 10 AM.
A good time was had by all.
