[obol] Fern Ridge, Lane County

I spent the morning at Fern Ridge and found a good number of shorebirds including:

  Wilson's Snipe 5
  Greater Yellowlegs 40
  Lesser Yellowlegs 6
  Spotted Sandpiper 1
  Long-billed Dowitcher 240
  SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER 1
  Western Sandpiper 75
  Least Sandpiper 50
  Black-necked Stilt 3
  Black-bellied Plover 1
  Semipalmated Plover 6
  Killdeer 40

In the drying pond just east of the viewing platform I counted 78 American White Pelicans, 55 Great Egrets and good numbers of Great Blue Herons, gulls and shorebirds all feasting on the exposed fish.

South of Redhead Pond I found 2 BREWER'S SPARROWS where the dike intersects with a dike heading west.

I found 2 BLACK PHOEBES under and around the bridge that goes over the Long Tom River just below the dam.

And, Tim, there were a measly 5 Tree Swallows amongst the hoards of Barn, Violet Green, Cliff & Purple Martins.
