Eugene's Wednesday birding group went out to Fern Ridge Reservoir today.  The first two birds were American Bittern and Brewer's Sparrow.  We quickly added one Pacific Golden-Plover and 13 Baird's Sandpipers to our list.  These were north of Royal a couple hundred yards down the road.  We met Tom Mickle, Al Prigge and Bill Hunter near the observation platform.  We searched for the Stilt Sandpiper and Reeve (Ruff) seen on Monday, but were unable to relocate them.  Black Terns seem to have left the area, also.  American White Pelicans were in record numbers today (128).  We added a few more Baird's Sandpipers and a Pectoral in Redhead pond.  We did not do a terrific job on identifying swallows.  We had only three species: Purple Marin, Barn and Violet-green.  Cliff and Tree Swallows were probably there too.
