I just received a phone call from Mike Patterson. He was at the end of
13th street in Warrenton scoping the mud and sand flats on Young's Bay
and spotted a large plover he initially thought was going to be a
Killdeer due to its size. He then noticed it had a single dark breast
band and a very large pointed bill. The legs appeared grayish. The bird
and others were flushed by an Eagle that then flew over. I quizzed Mike
thoroughly and I believe his initial identification of the bird as a
WILSON'S PLOVER. Presumably and adult male if the breast band is black.
The tide is coming in and soon the flats at the end of 13th will be
submerged. Mike is hoping the bird will come back before then. 13th is
west of the Warrenton Sewage Ponds.
