After being unable to count the number of Wilson's Plovers we observed at the end of 13th St. in Warrenton, Steve Warner and I went to the Necanicum Estuary in Gearhart in search of Buff-br. Sandpipers. Too many of these to count also, but we did see and count 4 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS. Also good numbers of Western Sandpipers, Least Sandpipers, and Semi-palmated Plovers. And a cupla Greater Legs.

Stanley Lake, the pond across Hwy 1 behind the Church, is teeming with the later 4 spp above. Plus a Peregrine was plucking the flight feathers from a recent kill.

Seaside Cove was also teeming with birds, mostly WESTERN GREBES (maybe 4-500??), with some Black Scoters and lots of COMMON MURRES.

                    Good birding, Mike

The nightingale's a feather of a bird:
nature's breath can knock it head to tale
A poet should be tougher Some have heard
the mockingbird scaling like a nightingale
I know a woman hasn't wept for years:
and every syllable she writes sheds tears
