I've been at Cannon Beach for a week, and have been
surprised at both what I've seen and not seen.

The Harlequin duck flock at Haystack Rock is amazing
as are the huge numbers of Murres.

Pelagis are scarce. There are a few Sooties visible
off shore in the early morning (beore 9) and late
afternoon (after 4) and that's it. What's really
surprising is th elack of shorebirds and passerines.
Miles of beach but no Sanderlings??? Shorebirds are
all at Stanley Lake in Seaside. Near zip for
passerines.

Best bird of the week was a pair of great horned owls
dueting at 3 a.m last night.

Interesting.
