Today, Aug. 27, from 3:00-3:30pm, Henry Gilmore and I observed 3 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS in the Little Beach area of the Necanicum Estuary (presumably the same 3 birds reported by Mike Patterson yesterday). They again were first visible from the observation area (where the bench is located), and again were feeding in the mossy area, but also moved out onto the mud from time to time. These birds were loosely accociating with with 3 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS. There was also a MARBLED GODWIT nearby.

At the Seaside Cove, 1 AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN flew by. (All white bird with black primaries).

At Haystack Rock we observed 5 imm. HARLEQUIN DUCKS.

Good birding, Mike

The nightingale's a feather of a bird:
nature's breath can knock it head to tale
A poet should be tougher Some have heard
the mockingbird scaling like a nightingale
I know a woman hasn't wept for years:
and every syllable she writes sheds tears
