Don Sutherland and I took a trip down to Summer lake, Lake County, yesterday, in part to do an ECBC shorebird survey. All the usuual birds such as BITTERNS, NIGHT HERONS, IBIS, GW EGRETS, WHITE PELICANS, CRANES etc... We had a fantastic PEREGRIN zoom past a flock of shorebirds. Also, 30 WHITE FRONTED GOOSE and a single BONEPART'S GULL. At Anna Reservoir we saw the female / immature GREAT TAILED GRACKLE (it had a dark eye so maybe it was an immature). Close to Fort Rock we saw the same BURROWING OWL and a single BARN OWL

At Wickiup (Deschutes Co) we saw very few shorebirds. Still, 2 COMMON LOONS in moulting plumage was a surprise. In addition we saw 240 w. pelicans, 9 FORSTERS TERNS, and 6 SANDHILL CRANES.Steve Dougill,Redmond, Deschutes Co., OR
