Shorebird diversity has been very low out on the north
spit of Coos Bay lately primarily due to lack of much
water.  However, it's been a banner year for
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS.  Yesterday afternoon, 28
August, Russ Namitz and I counted 15, making this the
largest flock we know of ever reported in Oregon-
cool!

The Oregon Shorebird Festival is happening this
weekend in Charleston, hopefully we can dig up a few
Elegant Terns and some unusual shorebirds around Coos
County.
