[obol] Buff breasted sandpiper

Obolites: Jack Anderson and I were fortunate to see the Buff-breasted Sandpiper north of Royal this afternoon 12:30. We had been studying a flock of Western S. and had virtually given up on BBSP when the bird flew in with two Lesser Yellowlegs. We got good scope looks before the 3 birds flew off to the north.The bird was a warm buffy color with a scaly appearing back.The bird was bigger than expected, not much smaller than the yellowlegs. It was a pretty good hike from Royal almost to Gibson Island. Bob Bender in Eugene
