Thanks Paul.  I'm always trying to sort out which slugs and snails belong in my garden and which do not.  I've been creating tree frog habitat, encouraging those slug-eating black beetles and don't discourage the raccoons that drop by for slug control.  There is a nice little book called "The Banana Slug" by Alice Bryant Harper.  I picked a copy up at the Berry Botanic Garden.  I've seen the book at Powell's Book Store and, I think, at the Backyard Bird Shops around Portland.
