neighbors to see if they've heard anything go bump in the night...):

As Dick has let the cat out of the bag -- I was phoned on Dec 6 at 2200 hours
by a patient who told me "they had a Shearwater alive in their basement". It
had hit their front door around 2000 hours. When they heard the noise they
thought their dog had made it, asking to come in. They found the bird laying on
their front porch and recognized it wasn't a "normal" bird for Lillooet. They
phoned and asked if I wanted to see it. "They had pictures if I wanted them".

At this point with our inversion, freezing rain and an ice encrusted car I said
"sure", maybe I'll come down tomorrow after work"
