Bill:  I assume you are referring to the photos of the 1998 loon that Mike
Patterson posted, rather than the 2007 bird.  I see no possible controversy
regarding the 2007 Arctic Loon.  It is very hard to say based just on the
photos what the 1998 bird was.  Jeff Gilligan
