[obol] Another Word On Binoculars

We have several pair of Eagle Optics Platinum Ranger 8x42s that do well.
Very light and very bright. They have recently replaced this model with
Eagle Optics Ranger SRT that are also very bright. Available at
eagleoptics.com or you can go to Wild Birds Unlimited and get your hands on
them for a test. OK, if you use Swarovksis or Leicas, they make a good
backup.

Articles in Living Bird and other birding oriented periodicals indicated
they were on the upper end of quality (and eye relief for those of us
blessed with specs) and on the lower end of cost for intermediate level
bins. I would buy these again in a minute. Better View Desired and Optics 4
Birding went right by them in their ratings & I have also recently seen
other birding periodicals rate bins with no mention at all of the Rangers.

Audubon Monarch ATBs are also very good and highly rated in the articles
that influenced me. They are available at such outlets as Sportsman's
Warehouse and GI Joe's. They are sometimes a few dollars less than the
Rangers.
