thank you all so much.

as a recent transplant to the west coast, so many things are new (and it 
is wonderful).

i have also been away from 'formal' birding for a long time so was 
unaware that the canada goose had been split into so many subspecies.

thanks for the education.  greatly appreciated.

on another note, saw what i am 99% sure was a female black  headed 
grosbeak during the snow storm 2 (?) weeks ago.  today i am sure i saw a 
male fly up along side the road.  i do know rbgrosbeaks and had numerous 
bh grosbeaks here all last year.  i don't think i was seeing things.

i apologize for the typing but have one arm in a cast.
