OBOL,
Alan Contreras called at 2:45 pm today (Saturday, Feb. 3) to report a
female STELLER'S EIDER he and another birder have found at Bray's Point.
The bird was overall brownish with some white markings in the area of the
speculum. It was well off shore, beyond the surf, so a scope was necessary.
  The bird was by itself.
Bray's Point is located north of Florence along highway 101. There is
a pull off with a sign that says Bray's Point. Alan estimates that this
point is approx. 5 miles south of Yachats, about 1 mile south of Strawberry
Hill, about 200 yards south of Bob's Creek, about 1 mile north of Stonefield
Beach.
    Don DeWitt, Eugene
