A small group (well, two people, actually--maybe it's not a good idea to schedule a field trip the same day as the Sauvie Island Raptor shindig) joined David Mandell and me for a day of birding around Tillamook. We saw 70+ species with these highlights;

BALD EAGLES seemed to be everywhere. We lost count, but had at least 12-15.
EARED GREBE 2
"SLATE-COLORED" JUNCO 1 on Fenk Road
no kites
MERLIN 1 darkish bird at Bayocean Spit parking lot
RHINOCEROS AUKLET 2 from Cape Meares
BLACK PHOEBE 1 on Goodspeed Road, Tillamook (at first residence on south side of road after leaving Hwy. 101)
NORTHERN SHRIKE 1 at same location as the Black Phoebe.
BLACK TURNSTONE 30 or more birds working the fresh oyster shell mounds at the Bay City oyster processing plant and restaurant on Tillamook Bay.
