The conversation on OBOL about the origins of the Falcated Duck have been very interesting indeed. I hope someone can take a photo that will bring us a definitive conclusion.
In any case, I saw the gorgeous duck of whatever origin on the right side of the street where Ann and Dan saw him. I probably left just early enough to miss a Dan and Ann sighting as well.
Four minutes after I arrived and parked on 10th Street, opposite the tanager house on Alvadore Road, the Summer Tanager flew into the feeder and fed, as well as vigorously defending it against any House Finch presumptuous enough to try to share the feeder's contents. The tanager was present for about three minutes. Viewed through a scope, one can see some red feathers beginning to appear on the birds chest.
A small group of crowned sparrows under the feeder included a white striped White-throated Sparrow. I found this to be slightly unusual, given that the majority of sparrows were White-crowned, with only one or two Golden-crowns in the mix.
Cheers,
Tim
