Glaucous Gulls:

Late morning at the Siletz Bay inlet: first year Glaucous Gull (on the Audubon
field trip)

Mid-day Roads End: possible first year Glaucous Gull or a hybrid between a
glaucous and something else....right size and structure...plummage-wise it
looked like a perfect first year glaucous and the beak was two-toned pink with
a black tip (well-defined)...however the pink was REALLY dark. This one has me
stumped. Does anyone have any ideas?

Early-afternoon "D" River: 1 first year Glaucous Gull and another definite
Glaucous Gull but not sure if it was a first or second year...iris was paler
than pupil but plummage was neatly patterned...definite chevron pattern in the
wings.

Depoe Bay afternoon in the rain: 17 Black Oyster Catchers (with 6 Black
Turnstones following them around). One male was attempting to mate with 4
different females (I'm assuming sexes by behavior) but they were having nothing
to do with him....he kept jumping up, they kept knocking him off...and who
could blame them, there was no wooing and just a lot of aggressive tail tugging
:-)

Siletz Bay Park still raining: approx 1200 gulls huddled up close on a sandspit
at low tide...4 male/female pairs of Mallards near the 101 bridge

Yaquina Head Pit Stop: Peregrine Falcon looking peaceful and innocent (this
little guy reminds me of a human I know)
