The RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER that I reported a couple of weeks ago by my
just-west-of downtown house is still hanging around. It's just an older
central neighborhood here with street and yard trees--no woodsy
coniferous areas. The Sapsucker keeps hanging out on the same several
trees; it spent about 20 minutes on a ornamental plum in the sidewalk
strip in front of my house this morning and I had plenty of time to set
up my tripod and scope and digiscope for some fine close-up pictures.
Could it be doing some scoping itself--for setting up nesting territory?
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
