[obol] Range extension of Glaucous-winged Gulls

Lars & OBOL,

I think hybrid pairs tend to occur where the two habitats meet....marginal
habitat for both. Evidently there have been hybrid pairs at Yaquina Head in the
past and last year I thought we were going to get one....there was a Western
and a Glaucous-winged courting up a storm with some attempted mating but they
never seemed to get it right (at least when I was around). It looked as though
they had staked out an area at the north end of Gonzo rock where dirt has built
up on the rock and there is some grass. Phenotypically speaking neither looked
like a hybrid. I'm hoping to find a hybrid pair there this year for our
Birdwatching Spoken Here program.
