Hi Obolidae
I did my 1st of the weekend bird count for GBBC - starting w/... that's
right! The Beaverton Transit center! Below is my count. Nothing rare,
but the Redtail Hawk was there in 1 of it's favorite 3 spots today &
bright and early too. Overall gestalt tells me this is the one I have
been seeing there regularly, and because of the light & angle & the
birds' stretching exercises I was able to FINALLY see the tail color- a
mature bird. I would like to see what it is actually hunting. I've got a
few of the bus drivers watching for the Hawk now!
I forget about my camera phone at these times... on my way out, a pair
of Mallards were floating around my apartment complex pool this morning
- now understand - this is not an open pool - it's a pool covered by a
tarp that happens to have a little water in it: that's what they were
floating on. A neighbor said there were a pair here last spring as well.
These 2 responded to my sweet voice & started coming over.... a sure
sign they have had handouts... oh well - No handouts here - just "Hi
Duckies" is all they get from me!
Happy Birding!~
