Carolyn and I drove the Bend-Alfalfa Raptor Route today under cloudy skies with scattered light rain showers. The temp ranged between 47 and 54 degrees F. and the winds were calm to 10 mph. we drove 71.3 miles in 3 1/2 hours. The raptor numbers were down from last year and we saw no rough legged hawks which surprised me.

One of the reasons we figured the numbers were low was that they were sleeping off a full belly of robins or the robins ate the hawks. There were thousands of robins everywhere. They were in the Junipers, in the hayfields and in the residential areas.

here are the raptors we saw;
Red-tailed Hawk        41            Also seen;
Am. Kestrel 11 Common Raven 30
No. Harrier 1 Am. Robins thousands
Adult Bald Eagle 1 Lots of Townsend's Solitaires
Ferruginous Hawk       1
Prairie Falcon              2
Sharp-shinned Hawk  1
