Regarding this Varied Thrush thread . . . 

I remember going to see a Varied Thrush that showed up at a feeder in Omaha, 
NE.  Of course, the homeowner was absolutely thrilled to have this rare bird 
at his feeder and went out and bought expensive grapes and cherries to entice 
him to stay around.

You can guess what happened--the Varied Thrush fed almost exclusively on 
sunflower seeds and the Northern Cardinals and other midwestern birds switched 
immediately to chowing down on the fruit!
