[obol] A feathered distraction

As I was preparing some gourmet food for my little "bait" birds, I saw a
bird on my deck rail I hadn't seen in decades- a Varied thrush.
It seems these birds are wandering far from home this winter as this is the
first time I've seen one here on the coast.
There also seem to be more than the usual number of Dark-eyed (Oregon)
juncos here as well and very few Goldfinches and a vertual absence of Pine
Siskins.
The weather has been odd this year as well, another day with snow melting
off the grass here close to the beach.
