lots of GREAT EGRETS on the Long Tom.

Then I visited Royal Ave area of Fern Ridge. I was immediately greeted
by about 10 TREE SPARROWS, my first of the spring. One was checking
out one of the bird houses. I also saw a WESTERN BLUEBIRD, lots of
MARSH WRENS, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, a LINCOLN SPARROW, a million
COOTS, lots of GREAT EGRETS and TUNDRA SWANS out near Gibson? Island.
There was a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE hanging out with a few
graylags. I also saw a BLACK PHOEBE in the willows by the observation
deck. Raptors included a BALD EAGLE, 2 WHITE-TAILED KITES, and N.
HARRIERS.

On the way home, I stopped by the Gainborough (sp?) community and saw
the FALCATED DUCK. Sure is gorgeous.

During lunch, I enjoyed the TOWNSENDS WARBLER that has been in the
neighborhood most of the winter. The number of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS
visiting our yard has increased recently.

After lunch, I drove out to Finley NWR to hike with a friend. Nothing
too exciting other than a WRENTIT (I think), a few HOODED MERGANSERS,
and a GREAT-HORNED OWL hooting as we were leaving.

All in all, a great day. Full lists are in Birdnotes.

On Wednesday, I saw my first OSPREY of the spring during my bike ride
to school along the Willamette River. The last couple of weeks I've
been out at Mt. Pisgah and seen a few TURKEY VULTURES.
