[obol] More on Chukars

A local Bandon photographer sent me a wonderful
picture of a CHUKAR there recently. I think Alan
Contreras had one in Bandon on a Coquille Valley CBC a
few years back- I don't think he counted the bird but
you never can tell with these hard core CBC compiler
types (I wouldn't know!).

I also recently witness something really bizarre. A
pickup truck pulled off the main road on the north
spit of Coos Bay and a guy and his young son (maybe 9
or 10 yrs. old) jumped out. They both had shotguns
and camo on. They went around to the back of the
pickup and fiddled around with something and suddenly
a pheasant shot out of the back of the truck into the
pine scrub. The young kid immediately took off after
it with his gun- I heard a few shots several minutes
later but don't know how successful his hunt was.

I have also heard N. BOBWHITE singing out on the spit,
I haven't added them to my county list yet though...

Happy Birding,
Tim R
Coos Bay
