About 3 years ago I was entertained by a Chukkar on the top of Spencer's Butte in Eugene.  I was sitting on one of the rocks on the tip of the Butte and a Chukkar strolled by.  I was pretty astonished.  It stayed around for quite awhile--near but far....would get as close as about 2 feet away but never closer.  It was definitely interested in checking me out for awhile and then eventually dropped down over the east side of the Butte.  Its color and patterning were stunning.  I had a strong feeling that it would not survive for long--seemed like easy prey for some sort of predator--domestic or wild.
