Mary Reese- I don't know the closest to Portland White-headed WP but there  is a male at Cabin Lake Ranger Stn./camp a few miles north of Fort Rock.  They have nested there in recent years.  I have two photos of him up at:

I took his photo from June 23 at 7:20 p.m., as he worked from bottom to top of a decaying snag/timber several ft. tall placed near the upper blind watering hole (inside the corralled sanctuary behind the Ranger Stn.)  Because of light and not knowing my brand-new camera well enough yet, the digiscoped shots aren't what they should be.  This male had very uneven and "partial" red patch on his crown.
