I have just got a chance at the computer. On June 27 I saw what I am sure must have been an immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK along the Obsidian Road. Heavily striped underneath and calling Kuk Kuk Kuk Kuk (Kak or Kek if you prefer). It was dodging around in the big junipers and would not let me get a good look at the head but the head was quite plain - it could have had a light stripe over the eye. It did not want to leave the immediate vicinity wheree I saw it and was back the next morning. It seemed to me there may have been nest area affinity. The big juniper tops were too thick for me to have much chance to find such without seeing a bird go to it.
My AMERICAN KESTREL nest box had at least 4 young still with a lot of down in the body but with wing and tail feathers well out and showing typical pattern. On about June 6 there were 5 eggs but only one of the young was at all active and it so much so that I couldn't investigate the number & condition of the others.
