Good morning all - The Portland Birders crowd asked me to post infomration
about The Wetlands Conservancy's Summer Programs. TWC, a state-wide land
trust dedicated to conserving wetlands throughout the state, is partnering
with the Tualatin Heritage Center to provide bird walks and nature programs
throughout the year.
TWC members Jim Johnson and Steve Berliner are providing evening programs
this summer. Jim will bring his Dragonfly & Damselfly photos and expertise
in July and Steve will share his bird photos in August.
See below for full details on both programs. Feel free to contact me at the
office (phone - 503-691-1394 or maryanne at wetlandsconservancy.org) for more
information.
Cheers, Mary Anne Sohlstrom, TWC Office Manager and occassional birder

DRAGONFLIES and DAMSELFLIES: WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2007, 7:00 PM: - Jim
Johnson, long-time birder and rising Odonata expert, will share his
expertise and photos of Dragonflies and Damselflies (Odonata)--fascinating
denizens of freshwater wetlands everywhere. This slide show and talk will
include their life cycle, when and where to find them, and the diversity of
species in the Northwest. The more common species of the region will be
highlighted. Jim is a Portland native and amateur naturalist who has been
studying dragonflies and damselflies for twelve years and his interest has
taken him all over the Northwest as well as other regions of North and South
America. He is currently working on an identification manual to the Odonata
of the Pacific Northwest.
BIRDS OF TUALATIN: FRIDAY, AUGUST 17, 2007, 7:00 PM: - Join us for an
introduction to the birds of Tualatin and the basics of birdwatching. Steve
Berliner will share his beautiful "digiscoped" photos, taken with a digital
camera and a high-quality Sporting Field Scope. Steve has been digiscoping
for about six years, and has been birdwatching for over twenty years. The
evening will highlight many of the birds that can be seen in and around
Tualatin.
