We met Dave Irons at Royal Ave. as he was leaving the site this
morning and after consulting the guides decided that we had a PACIFIC
GOLDEN PLOVER. The primaries came just to the tip of the tail. The
bird was an interesting individual. Some black between the legs and
mostly grey and mottled on the upper breast. Nice golden back.
Also found this morning were COMMON TERN, BLACK-CROWNED NIGHTHERON,
and one MARBLED GODWIT. The Common Tern was staying pretty much on
the Pelican island which is south of the viewing platform and west of
the middle dike. The Godwit was seen flying over twice and landed out
in the middle pond. The Nightheron flew west and landed in a shrubby
tree west of the middle dike and north of Pelican island.
We did not relocate the Semipalmated Sandpiper.
