Ned Brinkley's new Field Guide to Birds of North America is out. Publisher
is Sterling but it is sponsored by Natl Wildlife Federation. It is Geo-like
in size and shape but is a photo guide. It has only a couple of photos of
each species in most cases, but it is worth having for that reason alone,
e.g. A good portable set of photos of things like rare pipits, longspurs
etc. Also some very useful photos such as yellow Rail in flight.

Covers the bulk of vagrants that we would get. It has some good intro and
i.d. Sections, adequate maps (mostly good but with some odd choices of how
to show vagrants on maps). Printing is of good quality and has a nice solid
waterproof cover. $19.95
