[obol] 2nd Try Re: Late Report of a Lincoln Co. Vesper Sparrow

Hi,

[I tried sending the following this afternoon, but it apparently did
not go through.]

Since 1992, reports of Vesper Sparrows in Lincoln County from the
newsletter of Yaquina Birders and Naturalists (use "Search" link at top
of http://www.orednet.org/~rbayer/lincoln/bird.htm [all lower case
letters] to search for Lincoln County records since 1992) are:

1) One at Cutler City on 6/24/1999 by Phil Pickering.

2) "An unseasonable VESPER SPARROW at the Salmon River on 7/28/2000 was
closely observed to be sure it was not a more likely and similar-appearing
fledgling Dark-eyed Junco (Phil Pickering)."

Prior to 1993, we had 25 semimonthly periods with Vesper Sparrow
records (see below). Records in June and July are listed as
hypothetical because of concern that fledgling Dark-eyed Juncos may
have been misidentified as Vesper Sparrows. Vesper Sparrow reports have
become rarer in Lincoln County since 1992.
