7/22 Bandon State Park Coos Cty

Lots of shorebirds at the mouth of China Creek at Bandon State Park Coos
Cty this morning. At least 25 DOWITCHERS were present, presumably SB's,
but I never heard a word and didn't get close enough to see. Over 100
RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were around the mouth of the creek. Many many
SANDERLING and WESTERN SANDS, SEMIPAMATED PLOVERS, one RED KNOT, and the
beach is littered with WHIMBRELS, with one MARBLED GODWIT (there were
ten plus here the other day when Tim and Russ reported a bunch around
Coos Bay and Bandon). Lots of shorebirds in alternate plumage, a
terrific site. SNOWY PLOVER is of course always present here.

Crazy winter like weather in July making for very warm and muggy
conditions, incredible washup of kelp, seaweed, and dead birds and seals
(the latter kind of yucky......).

Cheers
