This notice is a bit unusual for an OBOL posting because it does not involve
recent sightings, a recent birding adventure, or a request for information
relating to birds, birding, or ID questions. This is a one-time posting to
OBOL of notice that the above referenced painting, by one of our own Oregon
birders and artist Larry McQueen, is currently being offered for sale on the
internet auction site known as eBay. It is a 10-day auction that will
terminate on August 2, 2007.

 

Those of you who were in attendance at the recent Oregon Field
Ornithologists (OFO) Annual Meeting in Bend had an opportunity to see this
work, to hear my brief statement about when it would become available, and
how it came into the hands of OFO.  Clarice Watson, a founding member of
OFO, was the only owner of this watercolor after it was painted in 1978.
Prior to her recent death, Clarice made it known that it was her wish for
OFO to auction the painting in order to raise funds to further the mission
of OFO.  Information about the painting, along with an image of the work,
also was printed on the back cover of the most recent issue of OFO’s
Quarterly “Oregon Birds”.
