Hi Folks,
Marilyn Christian and I traveled to Salt Creek Falls yesterday to
look for the swifts. We arrived about 0830, and I wondered if we
were too late to see them. After a little while I spotted one, but
it was a while before we saw any again. Then we saw four, relatively
low, that provided great looks. It was a lifer for Marilyn and a
state bird for me.

Those falls are very impressive and the area around there is just
gorgeous. We had a good time wandering around the area. We had
planned to look for the catbird at the Little Deschutes River
crossing, but my car decided to conk out at Crescent Lake so we had
to get towed back to Klamath Falls. My AAA coverage is basic so the
cost would have been $350. Thank goodness Marilyn had the PLUS
coverage so it didn't cost anything. A little disappointing that our
birding was cut short, but it could have been worse. Birders are
often in areas without cell phone coverage and no services--it could
have been a LOT worse. As it was, we only lost birding time.

Other birds seen at the falls: VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW, BELTED
KINGFISHER, CLARK'S NUTCRACKER (4), DARK-EYED JUNCO.

Good birding y'all,
Julie Van Moorhem
Klamath Falls
