In search of shorebirds, I stopped by Sally's Bend this afternoon but didn't
find a single one. The tide was about half-way out and the bright sun glistened
off the white plummage of the Great Egrets that stealthily hunted the water's
edge. I was about to leave in search of another good spot for shorebirds when 6
Caspian Terns showed up circling around and doing that little mid-air trick
they do before they plunge dive. It was so entertaining to watch these guys I
couldn't leave until they wondered off.

Made me realize I'll never be one to put more emphasis on how many species I
see in a day than really watching the birds themselves.

On the other hand, it is bugging me that I can't figure out what the little
songbird was that kept zooming by overhead. It was dark on top, bright golden
yellow on bottom, with a dark edge on the wings from underneath, dark head
overall including bill, dark tail from underneath. the beak was more warbler
like....definitely not finch/grosbeak like. I did hear it flight songs several
times and I could check sound files if I had suggestions on what to check. Any
ideas?
