Hi Obol

On Saturday about 8am, while waiting at Beaverton Transit Center for the
MAX I checked out the wetland - as always and was not expecting to find
a Green Heron. Actually I heard it first and was like "what the heck is
that?" It flew around and landed a couple of times, first landing on the
bank of the creek in the foliage, then flew across the creek and into a
tree, perched long enough for me to get a couple of pretty good photos.
it then flew away. It called a few times as well. The water in the creek
was oddly high...

Jackson Bottom was really nice. It was over cast, misty then to clearing,
Lots of Swallow species
Belted King Fisher
Bald Eagle
TVs
Canada Geese
Green Heron
Great Egret
Lots of Juv GB Herons by the experimental wetlands on the east end of
the preserve.
Lots of Cedar Waxwings
Anna's Hummers
Gold finches
House Finches
Downy Woodpecker
Female Blk Headed Grosbeak
Chickadees
Song Sparrow
Bewicks Wren (that followed me quite a ways)
Rufous Sided Towhee
Ring Neck Pheasant and Quail
Dowitcher
Some Peeps (too far to ID)
Killdeer
California Gull (I think..)
Some kind of warbler or vireo. I could never get a good look at but it
was making that click/chip type sound repeated and followed me & was
kind of big-more chat size. faint white eye line, yellow throat into
chest, then olive/greyish - no streaks, greyish or olive back, sides,
darker wings - do not recall bars??lighter underbelly - could not see
rump. Dark eye, no ring, long, thinish, dark beak warbler-ish size and
shape (not seed eater like or as big as robins beak)
And more folks - some warblers + vireos (likely Juvs and females that I
could not identify) heard Common Yellow Throat. Sorry for the lack of
positive ID but I am still learning. I'm participating in the Hikers
Survey Project at Jackson Bottoms - and am there doing my survey every
Saturday - email me off list if U would like to accompany me for great
birding and to help me get better at IDing. Would love the company! The
Survey project is really fun too. I also found garter snake, wood mouse
(dead...), coyote scat and other neat items!
