[obol] Prairie Falcon

Sorry this is late in the day but this is my first chance to post
today. This morning Barbara and I were helping staff the Cascades
Raptor Center booth at an event in the West Eugene Wetlands. They
brought a Kestrel, a White-tailed Kite and a Turkey Vulture for
display. A little after 11, something caught the attention of the
Turkey Vulture. I looked out across the field and saw a large falcon
land in the back of a tall pine just beyond the Meadowlark Prairie
overlook. When it flew out, I could see that it was an adult Prairie
Falcon. It headed northwest across Greenhill Road in the general
direction of the blueberry farms on Royal Ave. We remained in the
area until we disassembled the booth shortly after 1 pm but never saw
the bird again. A Prairie Falcon here in winter is nice to find but
not so unexpected as an adult flying over this time of year.
