My mother came out from Indiana to find a Yellow Rail, #700 for her ABA list. On the evening of May 31, we found a very vocal individual behind the historical marker on OR 62, just east of the cemetery at Fort Klamath (Birding Oregon p.110). This saved us from making the long drive up to Klamath Marsh NWR.
On the way back to Portland today, we stopped at Salt Creek Falls (BO p.92). After searching for about 20 minutes, two Black Swifts worked their way up the valley, and eventually circled directly above us. This was at about 12:30 PM.
Sometimes it is really nice when the birds show up right where they are supposed to be.
Cheers,
