[obol] Canby Martins

I did visit the Canby location reported by Kay Carter over the weekend.  I saw one PURPLE MARTIN and heard it's very distinctive call.   I did not locate the reported nest, but did see Violet-green Swallows nesting in one of the pilings.  Hearing the Purple Martin brought back memories of growing up in Minnesota.  The neighbor had a huge martin house and we saw and heard them all summer.  I also had my hair parted by the diving martins many times back then.  The attack usually came from behind and cause a big flinch even when expected.

Park at the paved lot at the intersection of Territorial Road and N. Molalla Forest Road and follow the M. Forest Road north past the golf course to the river.  Depending upon your walking pace it should take about 15 to 30 minutes each way.
